THE CALL TO SUCCESS
There are many blessings that we can get from the call to
prayer and some other things that are associated with it.
Firstly, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon
him) ordered us to repeat what the Mu’adhdhin (caller to prayer) is saying.
Allah’s Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
said: “Whenever you hear the Adhan, say
what the Mu’adhdhin is saying. And when he says “Hayya ala- salaah”, and “Hayya
ala falaah” (there is no might and no power except by Allah) (Bukhari).
The Reward
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said
whoever says this from his heart will enter Jannah (Paradise), (Muslim).
Secondly, the person after listening to the Adhan and
repeating it after the Mu’adhdhin should ask Allah to grant the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) the position of al-waseelah (a rank in
Paradise). He should do so by saying:
“Allahuma Rabba haadhihid da’watit taamati was salaatil qaa’imati, aati Muhammadanil wasilata wal fadeelata, wab’athhu maqaamam mahmooda nilladhi wa ‘adtahu.? (Tirmidhi).
The Meaning
Oh Allah!bring its call to its completion and assure the
establishment of the prayer and grant Muhammad the means of intercession and of
favour, and give him the honoured station you have promised him.
The Reward
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said
whoever says this after the adhan will be granted his intercession on the Day
of Resurrection. (Bukhari)
Thirdly, between when the Mu’adhdhin finishes the adhan and
before the prayer is commenced we should supplicate to Allah as the
supplication that is done at this time is not rejected. The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said “The supplication between the call to
prayer and the iqaamah is not rejected.” They said, “what shall we say, O
Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?” He replied “Ask
Allah for well being in this world and the hereafter.” (Tirmidhi)
Two Rak’ah
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also
enjoined us to make two (2) rak’ah between the adhan and the iqamah.
Narrated Abdullah bin Mughaffal Al Muzani, Allah’s Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) said thrice, “There is a prayer between the
two Adhans (Adhan and Iqamah),” and added, “for the one who wants pray.” (Bukhari)
