There is a Hadith that says that say sadaqah should be done secretly.
But what was the case of a husband who loves during Sadaqah but don’t have much
such that if he do sadaqah, it will affect his home, though not seriously and
which also makes his wife tell him that he is suppose to be doing such and such
for the family from his salary. So he told her wife that he did sadaqah from it
but did not tell him the person he did it for. Hope this has not opposed the
hadith that says “what the right hand does should not be known by the left
hand?”
Answer
The hadith of the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that said,” when you do
sadaqah silently in a way that you did not expose it to let people know the
extent of your sadaqah, it extinguishes the annoyance of Almighty Allah
(Exalted is He).
So it does not oppose the hadith, but the best sadaqah has
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has taught us is the one
you did to your household because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be
upon him) said: “the money which you spend for the sake of Allah or the one
which you spend for the release of a slave person in other for the slave to be
release or the one you spend on the needy or the one you spend for the member
of your household so that they will not be in a state of want. All of them are
rewarding but the one that is more rewarding is the one you spend for your
household.”
So sadaqah should be upper most in the mind of the husband
to his household. We should not be a fatila
(a lantern that gives light to the surrounding but having darkness in itself)
and not in a way we will now put the household in trouble (i.e. in a state of
need).
May Allah make it easy for us.
