SORCERY:AS-SIHR

 Sorcery: as-Sihr

Allah the most exalted says:
“And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter.” (Q2:102)
Allah the Almighty says in another verse:
“They believe in Al-Jibt and At-Tahut (all false deities).” (Q4:51)
Umar (RA) is reported to have said that that Al-Jibt is magic (sorcery) while At-Taghut is Ash-Shaytaan.
Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Save yourself from the seven destroyers.”  The Companions asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what are those?’ He said, “To associate anything with Allah, Sorcery (magic), killing a life Allah has forbidden without any just cause, taking interest (usury), usurping the wealth of orphans, turning back from the battlefield, and making a false charge (accusation) against the chaste but unmindful women (i.e. they never even think of anything touching their chastity).” (Bukhari)
Jundub (RA) said, “ The punishment for the sorcerers/magicians is that he should be struck with the sword (i.e. executed). (Tirmidhi)
Bajalah bin Abadah narrated that Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) wrote: Execute every sorcerer or sorceress.” So Bajalah continued: “We executed three Sorcerers.” (Bukhari).
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Verily al-Iyaafah (to drive away the birds), at-Tarq (is the line that is drawn on the ground) and at-Tiyarah (bad omens) are from al-Jibt.” (Ahmad).
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever learns a branch of the knowledge of the stars, then he has learnt a branch of magic; the more he learns (of the stars), the more he learns (of magic).” (Abu Dawood).
He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: “ Whoever ties a knot and then blows into it, then he has practiced magic, and whoever practices magic has commited ash-Shirk. And Whoever hang something, then he is entrusted to it.” (Nasaaee).
Important issues
1.       The explanation of al-Jibt and at-Taghut and the difference between them.
2.       Knowledge of the seven destroyers that have been particularly forbidden.
3.       That the magician is to be declared disbeliever.
4.       That the magician is to be killed and he is not requested to repent.
5.       That magic existed between the muslims in the time of umar, so how about after him?
6.       That the knowledge of the star is a kind of magic.
7.       That tying knots along with blowing (into them) is from magic.
